Evelyn served two years for harboring a criminal. She sold her story to True Confessions, True Romance and the Chicago Herald and Examiner. After her release in 1936 she went on the road with the Crime Does not Pay Show. Evelyn Frechette eventually moved back to Wisconsin. She married Wally Wilson in the early 40's. He reportedly died of suicide. Although she married Arthur Tic in 1965 she retained Wilson as her last name.

She died of cancer on Jan. 13, 1969 in Shawano, Wisconsin and is buried in Shawano. Her grave marker was later added by the Tic family who had mistakingly inserted 1970 instead of 1969 as the year she passed away.
